JUST the other day, I jokingly warned my good friend that he'd better not have any naked pictures of himself with his partner floating around.

He stared at me, completely startled, but slightly guilty.

'You'd better get rid of them ASAP before they end up in the wrong hands!' I told him.


I had a good reason - I want to protect myself from ever seeing more of him than I'm supposed to.

He had recently sent his faulty handphone for repairs and I suggested that some perverse Mr Fix-It could've stumbled across the incriminating photos and decided to post them on YouTube as a lark.

'If it got out, how would that reflect on your reputation, your company, your family?!'

My friend goggled at me, his mind racing with the horrific possibilities.

On a roll, I continued my cautionary tale: 'Even if you transfer those images from your handphone or digital camera and save them on your computer, the same thing's going to happen if it crashes and you have to send it to a shop - staffed with more of these jokers.'

With the recent rash of scandalous X-rated sex photos and video clips allegedly featuring Hong Kong celebrities like Edison Chen, Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung and Joey Yung, it's plain to see you can never be too careful.

Didn't they read about what happened to their Hollywood counterparts?

Night-vision sex tapes from Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Paris Hilton and Rick Salomon and Kim Kardashian and Ray J made them long-running punchlines.

So why does it happen again and again and again?

Don't people - celebrity or ordinary - ever learn?

Sure, I can understand how making your own kinky video can spice up your sex life.

But I also think too much lust and not enough caution makes people do very stupid things.

You are already breaking the law by possessing obscene material, starring yourself or anyone else.

There must be an exhibitionist in you somewhere if you are able to take such photos or footage.

If so, congratulations. Your secret (naked) ambition has been fulfilled.

Until you can put away the equipment and resist the urge to capture your private parts and romps on film, don't you blush when it becomes public property.
