The Associated Press has named talk show host, author, and bear enthusiast Stephen Colbert as its celebrity of the year.


• Here's a first look at director Guillermo del Toro's new movie, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. It is the Mexian director's follow-up to his Academy Award-winning film Pan's Labyrinth.

• The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations are out. SAG has some really interesting categories, like best ensemble cast, and outstanding performance by a stunt ensemble in a motion picture. Sean Penn's Into the Wild earned the most nominations, with four nods.

• Things keep getting worse for Casey Aldridge, the wholesome, church-going youngster who knocked up Britney Spears' sister Jamie Lynn: if the baby was conceived in Louisiana, and Aldridge was 19 at the time, he could faces legal trouble. • While it pretty much bombed in North America, The Golden Compass is doing pretty well in England.
