Model prisoner mom
TMZ.com cut to the chase about the Jessica Sierra pregnancy.
"Sources (say) that the father is a rapper and Jessica is ecstatic over the news. She’s currently in the infirmary in the Falkenburg Road Jail in Florida on a pregnancy diet. Jessica’s spawn has a lifetime of fun to look forward to — ‘look, it’s mommy in a sex tape!’ "
Sierra, another person forced on us by "American Idol," is in jail for violating probation. Her current charges range from disorderly intoxication to felony possession of cocaine. A porn company recently announced it will start selling a hard-core sex tape of her in January.
She’s still part of a VH1 reality series called "Celebrity Rehab," and its host, Drew Pinsky, is supposed to appear at her next court date Jan. 7.
Bootsy praises Brown
Bootsy Collins is hosting a tribute show to James Brown today in Cincinnati. Brown died on Christmas Day 2006.
The Cincinnati show will include Brown’s most recent band, the Soul Generals, some members of the JB’s, Chuck D, Buckethead and Lil’ Boosie. The proceeds will go toward rehabbing King Records in Cincinnati. Collins, who started working at King Records when he was 15, met Brown there and by the time he was 17 he was touring as Brown’s bassist.
"We didn’t want a rock star hoopla kind of thing," Collins told Billboard. "I want to keep the focus on Mr. Brown; I don’t want people to forget what he’s done. To me, he’s like the Martin Luther King Jr. of music."
Just like dad
The Led Zeppelin reunion show Dec. 10 in England went great, but drummer Jason Bonham, playing in place of his late father, John, is now back in Florida and ready for more work with his regular band, Foreigner. They’re playing a show New Year’s Eve in Orlando with the B-52’s.
That means no Led Zep tour is in the works, and Bonham says fans shouldn’t ask him anyway.
"I’m still the new guy, and I wouldn’t know," Bonham told Billboard. "Don’t be greedy. ... If they do it again, of course I would love to. But that’s up to them. Only time will tell."
Bonham said the experience "still ... kinda feels surreal, like it never really happened in some way."
"I had to work at it, really prove that I could do it and not just say, ‘Hey, I’m John Bonham’s son. I should be doing it,’ " he said. "I’m amazed. I pulled it off. If you’d have wanted a moment for everyone to get it right at one point, that was it."
Stop the comic
Rob Thomas, the guy who made "Veronica Mars," was going to write for a comic book version of the show. But, as he told TV Guide, there may be a problem.
"I had a second meeting with DC comics. I heard that the (WGA) didn’t want (TV writers penning TV-based) comic books during the strike as it would promote a network property. We’re investigating whether there are similar hurdles for a defunct TV series like ‘Veronica Mars.’ Naturally, I won’t be writing it if the guild doesn’t want me to, but we’re hoping that’s not the case."
Stop the drug deal
Adalberto C. Gallegos Jr., the lead singer of the popular Tejano band the Latin Breed, and his son have been indicted on money laundering charges, authorities said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office alleged Thursday that between February 2004 and July 2006, Gallegos Jr., 51, received more than $270,000 from the sale of marijuana. Authorities claim Gallegos deposited the money in a Bank of America account in Tampa, Fla., and then later withdrew the funds in Tucson.
Federal prosecutors also said that Adalberto C. Gallegos III, 32, allegedly handled $61,800 from drug sales in the same manner.
