Biography of Emma WatsonSome actors never experience commercial success, and then there’s Emma Watson. The Oxford schoolgirl made her acting debut in 2001 in an intimate little film called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Based on the best-selling novel by J.K. Rowling, the blockbuster film went on to make $975 million worldwide en route to becoming one of the most lucrative movies of all time. Emma has since shown off her impressive acting chops in the successful sequels Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).
Along the way, Emma has been featured on the cover of Teen Vogue, acted with luminaries like Richard Harris and Gary Oldman and has become a regular on the talk show circuit. There’s simply no telling how high her star will rise after Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007).
Regardless of what the future holds for Emma, one thing is certain: She desperately wants to take on a new challenge. "I want to play something totally different," she says. "I want to play every kind of character and every point of view, but I'm probably going to be playing Hermione for a while."
